Leal Cotrim Jansen Advogados (“Leal Cotrim”) is firmly committed to respecting the privacy of its members, clients and all individuals whose personal data we collect, store or otherwise process. Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.
This Privacy Notice guides the processing of personal data by Leal Cotrim and sets forth the rights of individuals whose personal data are processed by us and/or on our behalf. We kindly request that you read it carefully before providing us with any personal data and whenever you wish to know how we use your personal data.
1. HOW LEAL COTRIM PROCESSES YOUR PERSONAL DATA
All processing operations undertaken by Leal Cotrim are carried out in compliance with applicable legislation, especially Law No. 13,709/2018 (“Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados – LGPD”, the Brazilian General Data Protection Law) and Law No. 8,906/1994 (“Estatuto da Advocacia”, the Brazilian Bar Statute).
We only process your personal data on the basis of one of the following legal grounds:
- your consent;
- compliance with a legal or regulatory obligation;
- performance of a contract for the provision of legal services or of preliminary steps related to such contracts;
- the regular exercise of rights in judicial, administrative or arbitral proceedings; and
- legitimate interests pursued by Leal Cotrim, except where such interests are overridden by your fundamental rights and freedoms that require the protection of your personal data.
Browsing our website is anonymous. We only collect the personal data that you voluntarily provide when using the contact form available on our website, with your express consent.
Out of respect for your privacy, if you submit your personal data to Leal Cotrim to apply for one of our positions, such data will be securely deleted immediately after the conclusion of the selection process.
In any event, Leal Cotrim only processes personal data that are necessary to achieve the purpose that legitimates the processing, and only for as long as necessary to fulfil that purpose.
2. COOKIES AND TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

Notwithstanding the foregoing, any security incident involving your personal data that may pose a relevant risk or harm to you will be reported to you and to the National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) within a reasonable time, in accordance with applicable legislation.
4. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Leal Cotrim may use technology services (such as cloud storage and email) provided by companies headquartered abroad. In such cases, your personal data may be transferred to other countries, always in compliance with Chapter V of the LGPD and subject to appropriate safeguards to ensure the protection of your data.
5. YOUR RIGHTS AS A DATA SUBJECT
As a data subject, and subject to the provisions of article 7, II, of Law 8,906/94 and article 7, VI, of Law 13,709/2018, you have the right to request that Leal Cotrim:
- confirm whether your personal data are being processed;
- grant access to your personal data;
- rectify personal data that are incomplete, inaccurate or outdated;
- anonymize, block or delete personal data that are unnecessary, excessive, or processed in breach of applicable legislation;
- transfer your personal data to another service provider, in accordance with ANPD regulations, subject to trade and industrial secrets;
- delete your personal data, except where retention is required by applicable legislation;
- provide information on the public and private entities with which your personal data have been shared;
- provide information on the possibility of withholding consent and on the consequences of doing so;
- revoke your consent, subject to any overriding public interest that may justify the continued processing or any other legal basis that authorizes it; and
- object to any processing of personal data carried out on the basis of one of the grounds on which consent is waived, provided that there has been non-compliance with applicable legislation, and subject to any overriding public interest that may justify the continued processing.
6. HOW TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHTS
You may exercise your rights as a data subject at any time by sending a request to contato@lealcotrim.com.br. Upon confirmation of your identity, your request will be answered within 15 (fifteen) days from the date of receipt, in accordance with article 18, §5, of the LGPD.
If you receive our institutional newsletters and no longer wish to do so, you may also opt out by using the link provided for that purpose in every newsletter we send.
7. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY NOTICE
This Privacy Notice has been prepared in accordance with current legislation and may be amended to better comply with applicable laws, including infralegal regulations. Any changes to this Privacy Notice shall take effect from the date of their publication.
